Ho Hum
Last I was so looking forward to the horticultural meeting in Uxbridge as Maison Hogue’s owner was giving a talk on edible gardening.
Just as I was about to leave for the meeting, the sky opened up and a huge downpour and rain storm ensued so I stayed home and kept my dog company.
Dinner was a boring old take away which we have really gotten away from since moving from Toronto as the take away here is really just fast food.
I do miss Toronto’s ethnicity. Take away ranged from Sushi, Indian, Korean bbq, organic, vegetarian and amazing wood fired pizza. I love Uxbridge and I love to cook so we have been just fine. It’s just those very few times when I just want to pick up the phone and order…..
This morning is bright and sunny and it’s Thursday which means I bake a little something for the knitwits at Ellen’s shop “On the Lamb”. These ladies have been knitting together Thursday mornings for 4 years now. I thought I would make a Peach Rhubarb Kuchen. It was 6am, I peeled the peaches, chopped the rhubarb made the cake and put it in the oven. 15 mins later I realized I had forgotten the eggs. I have a cooled peach cement cake on the counter and nothing for the girls.
Ok on to blueberry muffins with a cinnamon lemon sugar topping. They are in the oven now and by 10:30am when I serve them-no one will be the wiser. Unless of course you tell them!
Well wasn’t I the smartie pants when I wrote that. Unfortunately I went downstairs to take my muffins to the shop when I noticed all the tops had been eaten off. Apparently my puppy loves muffin tops. You can imagine my mood then, two desserts and two failures so I stopped at the bakery and purchased some goodies.
Just a note. Later that day I received a call to say the dog had finished the cake and the muffins which had been moved to a place I thought was unreachable for a four legged friend.
Grrrr!!!!
